This map displays the position taken by General John Burgoyne, leading the British forces, on October 10, 1777. The battle ended on October 16, 1777 when General Horatio Gates, leading the American forces, stopped the British invasion into the Hudson valley. This map was drawn by Isaac Chapman and was derived from a sketch drawn by an American officer during the battle.
