We are extremely pleased to announce that Frances Abbott will be joining the DPLA as an American Council of Learned Society (ACLS) Fellow in September 2013.

The DPLA Board of Directors will hold a conference call on Monday, July 15, 2013. The call is open to the public.

Save the date! On October 24-25, 2013 the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) will bring together librarians, archivists, and museum professionals, developers and technologists, publishers and authors, teachers and students, and many others to Boston, MA to celebrate the DPLA’s successful April 2013 launch, its recent milestones, and its future at the first annual DPLAfest.

The HathiTrust Digital Library will partner with the recently launched Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) to expand discovery and use of HathiTrust’s public domain and other openly available content.

To highlight the DPLA service hubs and the digital objects they’ve contributed to the DPLA, the DPLA research assistants (the DPLAmats!) put together a Zeega multimedia slideshow featuring audio introductions to several of the DPLA’s Hubs and images of some of the archival content those Hubs contain.

Earlier this week, library supporters from across the country took to Washington, DC for National Library Legislative Day.

The DPLA is pleased to announce it is partnering with the David Rumsey Map Collection to provide online access to tens of thousands of significant historical maps and imagines.

Amid a difficult week in Boston, several DPLA members marked the DPLA Launch on April 18, 2013 by attending smaller get-togethers in New York and DC.

The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) launched a beta of its discovery portal and open platform today.

“Soon, people across the country will have access to a multitude of historic photos taken around central Virginia.The Digital Public Library of America launches next week and the University of Virginia is contributing the Holsinger Studio Collection to it. The collection is a photographic record of life in Charlottesville and Albemarle County from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.”
