American History at Your Fingertips: The Digital Public Library of America
“American history at your fingertips: How Minnesota contibutes to the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). The DPLA is a groundbreaking project that, for the first time, will make many of our nation’s significant digital collections searchable and accessible to the public from a single site. It will aggregate millions of digital artifacts from local archives, libraries, museums, and cultural heritage institutions across America and deliver them to students, teachers, scholars, and the public via a powerful search interface.”

#ALA2013: The bits I’m hearing again and again
“Put your stuff out there, share it with everyone else. What I know and understand about APIs and data is very little, but I recognize how important these two things are as libraries began to digitize, build digital exhibitions, and share with a worldwide community. The DPLA’s offering of a free bulk download of all its data and metadata is huge and a great place to start to realize just how important these things are to libraries.”
