Earlier today the folks at OpenGLAM announced the formation of their first Advisory Board. This group, made up of a distinguished and diverse cast of open culture advocates from across the cultural heritage sector, will provide guidance to the OpenGLAM Working Group and give feedback on key strategic issues. Dan Cohen, DPLA Executive Director, is part of the founding 7 member Board, which also includes Jill Cousins, Michael Edson, Paul Keller, Alexis Rossi, Merete Sanderhoff and Kat Walsh.

OpenGLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) is an initiative run by the Open Knowledge Foundation that promotes free and open access to digital cultural heritage held by Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums. OpenGLAM is supported by a global network of people and organisations who are working to open up digitized content and data held by GLAM institutions. OpenGLAM runs workshops and provides documentation for cultural institutions wanting to open up their data as well as organizes events bringing together groups that are committed to building an open cultural commons. The DPLA is a proud supporter of OpenGLAM’s efforts to advance free and open access to our shared digital cultural heritage.
