DPLA to host Book Talk on Mistrust, by Ethan Zuckerman, on April 22nd at 1 pm ET

By Kathleen Williams, April 2, 2021.

We are pleased to invite you to join us at the inaugural DPLA Book Talk, which will feature a conversation between Mistrust author Ethan Zuckerman and former Wikimedia Foundation CEO and DPLA board member Katherine Maher, moderated by Knight Foundation CEO Alberto Ibargüen.

Mistrust: Why Losing Faith in Institutions Provides the Tools to Transform Them, published in November 2020, looks at how and why Americans are losing faith in our institutions and how we can harness the methods of successful social movements to both transform and replace them.

In this book talk, Zuckerman and Maher will discuss the crisis faced by our institutions; the promise of the movements rising to challenge them; and the obstacles we must confront if we are to rebuild civic life and create meaningful change.

Following the event, from 2 – 2:30pm, members of the DPLA staff will gather informally to discuss the issues raised in the book talk and their potential implications for the library field and our work. If you’re interested in joining that conversation, please register here.
