Audrey Altman to Join DPLA as Technical Specialist

The Digital Public Library of America is pleased to announce that Audrey Altman will be joining its growing staff as Technical Specialist, \beginning June 1, 2014 in DPLA’s Boston office.

In this role, Altman will work with Director of Technology Mark Matienzo and fellow Technical Specialist Mark Breedlove to design, develop, test, integrate, support, and document user-facing applications and back-end systems; support content management policies, process, and workflows, and contribute to the development of new ones; and collaborate with stakeholders to contribute to strategic and tactical planning and implementation of content stewardship applications and technologies, among other essential duties.

“We are absolutely excited to have Audrey join the Technology staff of DPLA,” said Mark A. Matienzo, Director of Technology. “Her expertise in frontend development, linked data, and annotation, as well as her enthusiasm and curiosity are well matched with our needs as we grow in our second full year.”

Prior to her role at DPLA, Altman was the Digital Initiatives Assistant at the University of Iowa Libraries’ Digital Research & Publishing division, where she developed custom web applications, as well as the Digital and Public Engagement Assistant for the University of Iowa’s Digital Studio for Public Arts and Humanities. Altman recently received a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa, where she concentrated in Informatics. Altman holds a M.A. in American Studies from the University of Alabama and a B.A. in Theatre from Albion College.
