J.N. Thompson letter to Lyman Abbott regarding closed shop policies, May 12, 1920
J.N. Thompson writes to Lyman Abbott, the editor of Outlook magazine, to express his views of closed shop policies. Thompson writes that closed shops, in which all employees of a company must join a union if they are not already a member in order to be employed there, is unjust and an act of coercion. He writes that closed shops are "radical, unjust, and un-American.".
