A speech by Edward Hitchcock delivered to students at Deerfield Academy in which Hitchcock reflects on parting, friendship, and the students' next stage in life and the challenges that will arise. He thanks the students for their friendship and offers them advice for the future. Additional accompanying notes are also included, as well as a brief note on the "genius of our society.
