  • The Sacagawea statue was created by American sculptor Alice Cooper. Sign on sculpture reads: Erected by the women of the United States in memory of Sacajawea, the only woman in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and in honor of the pioneer mother of old Oregon. Stamped on verso: Portland, Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition. Handwritten on verso: Building and Grounds - Sacajawea. Filed in: Box 1/13.
