  • A long-necked plucked lute. This sitar has 17 movable metal frets on its long painted wooden neck. There are 6 large, black, rounded tuning pegs: 4 main pegs (fifth main peg and one melody string are missing); and 2 additional cikari pegs. There are 11 small black (stained) pegs for the sympathetic strings. The body of the instrument is quite scratched and worn.     A long-necked plucked lute. This sitar has 17 movable metal frets on its long painted wooden neck. There are 6 large, black, rounded tuning pegs: 4 main pegs (fifth main peg and one melody string are missing); and 2 additional cikari pegs. There are 11 small black (stained) pegs for the sympathetic strings. The body of the instrument is quite scratched and worn. The large resonating gourd is decorated with carvings (rather crudely executed) on its curved sides. Gourd and neck are decorated with sparse blue and red floral designs on white; blue geometric patterns (using circles) on white are inlaid around neck end. The bridge is made of ivory; one ivory tuning bead is attached to a melody string below the bridge, and a smaller bead is strung on a melody string near the peg.
