  • Caption to the right of photograph: The black building in the center of this picture was the house of W.N. Bell on the northwest corner of Second Avenue and Cherry Street, where the 18-story Hoge Building was erected in 1911. The site was that of the home of C.D. Boren, who took the land claim in 1852, and who sold the lot to Bell in 1855. The date of this picture was 1869-70.Prosch Seattle Views Album, Vol. 2, page 14.
