  • Description
  • The Hirabayashi family followed the teachings of Kanzo Uchimura, who founded the Mukyokai movement in Japan in 1901. Uchimura believed that Christianity would fit better into Japanese lives without the formal rituals practiced by Western churches. This movement taught pacifism and a goal of “oneness” in belief and behavior. PH Coll 1314.3.
