The crew will take the aircraft to the"boneyard"at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AFB), Arizona (AZ). The USAF C-9A served as the premiere medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) aircraft for the Air Force for 35 years was retired in July 2003. In 2002, the C-9 flew 1,280 sorties with over 3,200 flying hours, airlifting more than 10,300 patients and passengers.
