Photographs of the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project constructed between 1918-1961. The Gorge Dam and Powerhouse were built by Seattle City Light and completed in September of 1924.A penstock is a conduit or pipe for concentrating the flow of water from a dam reservoir to a powerhouse, resulting in increased water pressure for electrical generation.Caption on image: End of #3 Penstock Pipe, Gorge Plant, 8-13-23.
