    Curtis letter to Boettiger, Seattle PI, regarding the newspaper article detailing the Washington State Planning Council's side of the Cascade National Park controversy. Curtis writes, "[t]he report of the special committee of the State Planning Council was splendid in every way except that it did not coincide with Sec. Ickes views. As his statement relative to mining was so evasive and its meaning immediately changed by the park officials it is difficult to see how the committee could have agreed with him. Our experience in the Olympics should have proven that the state and its citizens have no rights which Ickes will respect.". less
