  • Description
  • John Muir was a prominent naturalist who was an early advocate of wilderness preservation. He actively campaigned for the protection of Yosemite (including Yosemite Valley), Sequoia, Grand Canyon and Mt. Rainier as National Parks. Muir cofounded the Sierra Club in 1892 where he served as president of the club for 22 years until his death in 1914.
