    End blown flute from Indonesia. This flute comes from Sunda (West Java) and is played either alone or in ensembles. The suling is marked by the characteristic ring of bamboo that encases the mouthpiece to guide the performer’s breath over the duct hole that is cut on the back of the top of the flute. The mouthpiece is carved into the solid end of the bamboo tube, with a small hole cut in the mouthpiece. A ring of bamboo is wrapped around the top and tied off in a knot to complete the mouthpiece.This particular model has 6 finger holes that are of varying size. less
