  • Description
  • The city of Powers in Coos County, Oregon was named after Albert H. Powers, a prominent figure in the timber industry, in 1914. Powers was born in 1862 and came to the Coos Bay region in 1906. He was with the Smith-Powers Logging Company from 1907 to 1922 and died in 1930 in an automobile accident. (Source: Oregon Geographic Names by Lewis A. McArthur).
