Armorial Ownership 54x67 mm JOUR DE MA VIE Coat of arms. Escutcheon: Argent a fess dancetté sable, a mullet (star) center chief for difference (third son). Crest: A griffin's head arising out of a coronet. Motto: Jour de ma vie (The day of my life). The arms shown here correspond in part to those for West (Earl de la Warr), cf. Burke, who notes that the motto alludes "to the taking of John, King of France, prisoner at the battle of Poictiers".
