Basic circular shape spittoon, with 12 ribs, pinched waist around outside, top sloped downward and into round opening 6.5 cm in diameter. Finish is Bennington-style, brown, gold, and cream speckled. Drain opening near top rim, some crazing, chips of finish out of rim. Diam. 14 1/4" x H 6 5/8". Typical of earthenware ceramics available to Abraham Lincoln in midwestern Illinois.
