Randy Gardner Oral History

An undergraduate student at Kent State University in 1970, Randy Gardner talks about the events that took place during the days leading up to the May 4 shootings on campus. He describes the unrest downtown, the burning of the ROTC building on campus, and the demonstration held on May 3. He was on The Commons on Monday, May 4, and relates his eyewitness account. He also discusses the aftermath of the shootings, including completing his coursework by correspondence. He goes on to discuss events from later in his life, including witnessing and being injured at the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona, in 2011.
