This writing guide is believed to have belonged to Laura Bridgman. Writing guides are used by people who are blind or visually impaired or deafblind to keep the pencil or other writing instrument in a straight line as the writer is creating the text. Bridgman was a prolific writer, with a voluminous personal correspondence, journals, and other writing.
