Fervid Trimble has been a resident of Des Moines since 1960 and a leader of Friends of the Des Moines Library for many years.THE FOLLOWING IS A TRANSCRIPT OF THIS INTERVIEW: My husband and I moved from Port Orchard to Des Moines in 1957. He was starting a new job because Boeing was booming, and they were building schools at the rate of one every month, grade schools. The population was growing. We found Des Moines a very pleasant and nice town, with grocery stores, and even some clothing stores, and a church, which we later joined. So this became our home. It just happened that our street address was Kent, even though we lived in Des Moines. The reason for that being that they wanted to have a title to property that had good taxes, and Des Moines didn't have any tax base with three retirement homes in their area. So anyway, that's where our connection with libraries and facilities like that really began in Des Moines, officially. less
