Constructed within the shell of Seattle's old Civic Auditorium for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, the 3,100 seat Opera House became the pride of the town's arts establishment. The Opera House hosted a wide range of national and international entertainment throughout the six-month exposition, including performances by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, live telecasts of the Ed Sullivan Show, and selected plays by Shakespeare presented by London's historic Old Vic Theatre Company. It was completely renovated between December 2001 and June 2003, and officially reopened on June 28, 2003 as the new Marion Oliver HcCaw Hall. less
