Description | In 1901 the Globe Navigation Co. purchased the Great Lakes freighter TAMPICO, along with the METEOR and EUREKA, for use between the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii.In 1907 it was purchased by the Pacific Coast Steamship Co. It sank at anchor, and was subsequently raised, in 1911. In 1917 the TAMPICO was sold to East Coast owners and dispatched to the Atlantic. (Source: Newell, Gordon, ed. "The H.W.
