He led gymnasium classes in Philadelphia, Virginia, England, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. Riess also wrote an article titled “American Forces in Germany” for Spalding’s "Official Foot Ball Guide" (1920). He was the former USO director and was working in Antwerp, Belgium, with the British YMCA when he died. less
