  • Description
  • The Fur Rendezvous is a winter festival that takes place annually in late February in Anchorage. The festival was founded in 1935 by Vern Johnson to coincide with the time when fur trappers came to town to sell their furs. The festival was canceled during World War II but resumed in 1946. The World Championship Sled Dog Race debuted in 1946 and has been a large part of the Fur Rendezvous ever since.
