Photograph, b/w. The ‘Wanderer’, the last American square-rigged whaleship in service, put to sea August 15, 1924. A hurricane struck in the night and on the morning of August 16, 1924 she was wrecked on the rocks of Cuttyhunk Island. The days of sailing whaleships ended in 1925 when the schooners ‘John R.
