  • Abalone seashell. One half of seashell, outside has encrustations, five holes, mother-of-pearl lining inside. L 7 1/2" W 5 3/4". This seashell belonged to Mary Todd Lincoln during her residence in Springfield, IL. A conversation piece in land-locked Springfield, it was also possibly used to hold down drapes.
