A spokesman for the U.N. Command, said that the remains were uncovered in Gaechon City, about 50 miles north of Pyongyang. The U.S. 2nd Infantry Division retreated through the area in late 1950. The division traveled through a mountain pass that was occupied on both sides by Chinese soldiers. The pass was called The Gauntlet and while making thier way through, the division suffered nearly 5,000 casualties.
