Command Honor Guard soldiers during a repatriation ceremony. During the ceremony the remains of what is believed to be five U.S. soldiers that served in the Korean war were returned to the South. During the ceremony the reamains are passed across the MDL from North Korean soldiers to a group of United Nations Command Honor Guard soldiers. As the remains are passed across the MDL they are saluted by a delegation of representing members of the U.S. Veterans of Foreign Wars, some of which served in the Korean War. A spokesman for the U.N. Command, said that the remains were uncovered in Gaechon City, about 50 miles north of Pyongyang. The U.S. 2nd Infantry Division retreated through the area in late 1950. The division traveled through a mountain pass that was occupied on both sides by Chinese soldiers. The pass was called The Gauntlet and while making thier way through, the division suffered nearly 5,000 casualties.
