Vessels on the Canal, 1910-1925. By the 20th century commercial barges had replaced passenger packet boats on the canal. In 1915 a staged historical trip on the canal marked the closing of the Erie Canal through Rochester. Charles Rogers of Fonda, Charles Burnham of Oneida and Capt. William P. Baker of Durhamville bring the first boats into the Barge Canal Harbor. Published in "Rochester Herald 1920-06-08" (negative, glass plate overall: 5 x 7 in.)
