A photograph of William Yorzyk swimming in Springfield College's pool. It is thought that this picture was taken during Yorzyks' sophomore year of College in 1952. He particpated in the Melbourne Olympics where he went on to win an Olympic Gold medal. An NCAA All-American his junior year at Springfield College, and his senior year he became an ECAC champion. After graduating in 1954, Yorzyk went on to become a graduate assistant in the physical education department at Springfield. Yorzyk went on to compete in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and was the first Olympic champion in the dolphin-butterfly stroke. In his career he set a total of 11 World Records and won the U.S. National Outdoor butterfly title 4 times from 1955 through 1958.
