This newspaper article titled "New Dormitory Called Beginning of Greater Springfield College" was published in the Springfield Union on September 23, 1926. A copy of the article is in the Alumni Hall Records but the original copy is in Publications Int. Y.M.C.A. (1926-1927). The cornerstone of International YMCA College's (now Springfield College) Alumni Hall was laid on September 22, 1926. The article discusses how Col. Franklin, the main speaker at the cornerstone ceremony, predicts rapid growth in future years to come at the college. It also discusses Dr. Raymond P. Kaighn's speech, president of the Alumni Association and one of the eighteen students of Dr. Naismith's class to play the game of basketball, at the cornerstone ceremony. The opening of the ceremony took place at the gymnasium, and was followed by a scripture reading leading to the cornerstone being laid. It was said that the new dormitory would house 220 students, and overlook Lake Massasoit
