George Stone and Dr. Philip Hauser discuss problems of urbanization; urban and rural population ratios from 1800 to a projected 1980; rank size of urbanized areas in the U.S.; sex ratios, median ages, and birth rates by population of urbanized areas; scattered metropolitan area population; the movement to the suburbs; the growth of Chicago from its base on Lake Michigan; urban renewal programs; and projections of the problems into the future.
