This drawing shows farmers herding hogs to Chicago, where they were known to fetch a high price. With the beginning of the railroads in McLean County, much livestock and grain was transported to Chicago via train. But farmers began accusing railroads of cheating them on prices, so here, farmers are taking hogs to market themselves.
