  • James William Steele and his wife Jane moved to Washington Territory in the 1860s and settled on the Duwamish River. This photo, possibly taken in the 1880s, shows the Steeles' riverside home with its fields and fruit trees. The Steele's son, Joseph William Steele, and his wife Mertie ride in the carriage.
