  • The aircraft pictured is a four-engine flying boat on beaching gear designed and built by the Consolidated Aircraft Corp., in San Diego in 1936-1937. In 1939 all Scouting Force aircarft were commanded by Rear Admiral Arthur B. Cook, U.S. Navy. Admiral Cooks' command aircraft was the XPB2Y-1 in which he toured on occasion the many facilities (including the Naval Air Station at Sand Point) under his command.
