A pre-printed allotment form used by U.S. Navy sailors to designate some of their pay to family. This form was completed by Jesse Cole and dated November 17, 1800. The form reads "I Jesse Cole seaman on board the United States vessel of war Constitution commanded by Silas Talbot Esqr. do by these present allot eight dollars fifty cents per month of my wages for the support of my family. And I do herby appoint Tabitha my wife my Attorney to receive for that purpose from the Navy Agent at the port of Boston the said sum of eight dollars fifty cents monthly for the term of ten months; the first payment to commence on the first day of February 1801. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 17th day of November 1800 - Jesse Cole." The allotment was also signed by Silas Talbot and Purser James Dublois. There is also writing on the reverse, including Tabitha's mark (an "X" in place of a signature).
