    In this letter to Professor Garland Ethel from the Washington Committee for Academic Freedom, the committee writes about Initiative No. 17 stating it “…is an act assuring the maintenance of democratic legislative procedures. It offers a sensible solution to the problems raised by the recent activities and methods used by the Canwell Committee, and would prevent their recurrence by any other such committee in the future.” The letter also asks for Professor Ethel to help with the cause by obtaining “…twenty registered voters to sign the enclosed petition and return it…”. less
