Carnation Milk billboard, Seattle, 1944
Consumer rationing was a big part of the war effort during World War II. The Office of Price Administration established a program of equal sharing where each family in the nation received monthly ration coupon books for such items as butter, meat, sugar, coffee and tobacco. This billboard reminds consumers to do their part to conserve in-demand products like milk.
