In the letter, Attorney Harnden discusses his own experiences hiking in Yosemite with the Sierra Nevada Club and expresses interest in joining the Mountaineers for their July trek up Mount Rainier. He says: "We would like, in order to stow our things properly in camp and to get under cover in case of bad weather--we will plan to sleep outside, ordinarily,--to have some sort of tent accommodation, a corner somewhere (we are neither exclusive nor fussy), that we can fall back upon. We do not care to carry a tent. Could you arrange this, and what would the total expense for each of us, including this, be, say beginning July 26 and until the end of the outing?-assuming that you can take care of us and want us anyway. Certainly such a trip as you have planned out to be a great success.". less
