  • Slide is taken from the NASA P3 aircraft, looking out from the cockpit window. It shows a blue haze that was coming out of the Mount St. Helens crater after the clouds evaporated. This blue haze is indicative of very fine particles, sub micron, or one micrometer in diameter or smaller. These refract the light to enhance the blue wavelength.
