The yearbook doesn’t indicate when the rows shift and one name appears to be missing. The following is the team’s entry in the 1978 Massasoit: “With ‘Go 4 It’ as their slogan, Coach Val Turtle and the 1977-78 Women’s Swim Team had a successful season despite a final record for 4 and 5. The final score of the meets do not actually show how well the team swam individually. Led by Co-Captains Bonnie Morse and Nancy Webb, the women went into the season to defend their New England Championship. Unfortunately, the flu hit hard, and SC came home with a 6th place finish. There were many SC records broken during the season, by Bonnie Morse and Cheryl Poirer. Coach Turtle saw strong swimming in Kim Weizbicki, Tina Gomez, Barb Bailey, Joy Green, Joan Imken, and Deb Kinney. Along with these, there were many other high spots on the line-up that will be valuable in the future.”. less
