  • Semple, chief engineer and major force behind the Seattle and Lake Washington Waterway Company, sends this letter to Paul Hedrick, who holds an unknown position at the City of Seattle. Semple writes regarding his connection with the work done on Seattle's South Canal between Puget Sound and Lake Washington (which was never finished), and wants to recieve the credit due him for this work.
