- Description
Sometime before 1910, an artist created this view of a future Nyack, with elevated rail, subway and trolley service connecting the village to New York City. In the background soars a dirigible. Notes written on the back indicate that this is a view of Broadway looking south. Main Street crosses Broadway just past the frame building on the right. The elevated seems to go by the First Reformed Church. Brechbiel's, on the left, was a cigar store at 10 North Broadway. Notes on the back read: "Copy of old postcard showing trolley on Broadway, elevated railroad in background dirigible overhead. The artist, who superimposed them on photo, was making fun of the many trolley schemes proposed for village, but Nyack did give franchise for a trolley to Rockland Railroad Company in 1908."
