Sunken Meadow State Park is one of the State Parks under the jurisdiction of the Long Island State Park Commission. Distance from New York City, 45 miles. This park can be reached by State highway route #25A and is located on the Long Island Sound. The park is noted for its Sound bathing with a long stretch of sandy bathing beach and bathhouse accommodating 2,700 bathers. The upland wooded section of this park is equipped with fireplaces, picnic tables, comfort stations and refreshment stand with an excellent view overlooking the Long Island Sound.
