  • The original finding aid described this as: Description: During STS-46 operations, the Tethered Satellite System 1 (TSS-1) satellite drifts in space on the end of a dielectric Kevlar cord (tether). The TSS-1 appears to be glowing from an outside source of light. Later the TSS-1 satellite will be reeled back into Atlantis', Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 104's, payload bay (PLB).
