    This register documents climbers who reached the summit of Mount Rainier between 1930 and 1938. It was a way for the Mountaineers to keep track on the number of people making the ascent, when they climbed and where they came from. Some entries include small notes on the conditions of the climb. On August 9, 1930, an entry recorded the ascent of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 65 from Seattle. On June 7, 1931, the Tacoma Mountaineers logged the first trip of the year. On July 14, 1938, Larry Penberthy recorded his party's ascent, noting "Very grueling climb from Paradise by way of Kautz Glacier. We left Seattle at 4:30 yesterday afternoon + came straight through with only one 3 hr. bivouac. Arrived crest 1:30 P.M.". less
