  • Description
  • Herbert J. Phillips was a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Washington. He was one of the professors subpoenaed by the Canwell Committee for having alleged Communist Party affiliations. He would later be terminated by the University of Washington’s Board of Regents based on the opinion of President Raymond B. Allen; contrary to the Faculty Committee on Tenure and Academic Freedom’s vote to maintain him as professor at the institution.
