  • Lillian Goon Dip was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1900. Her father was Chinese consul and hotel owner Goon Dip, and she took his full name as her surname. Until 1933, Miss Goon Dip lived with her family at the Milwaukee Hotel, in Seattle's Chinatown. Later, she moved to Mercer Island, where she died in 1975. During her lifetime, she particularly enjoyed ballet, horseback riding, and taking care of animals.This photograph, taken sometime in the 1920s, shows Lillian Goon Dip in an elaborate Chinese headdress and dance costume which she wore for a ballet performance. Miss Goon Dip studied ballet for many years. less
